Nose job and chin connection.
Sue from *Boka* says: "I went for a consultation for my nose, and the doctor told me I need a chin implant, and if I don’t get the chin implant, the results would suffer from it. Is that true?"
Dr. Salzhauer: That is very true. It’s not to say that if a person comes in and I think that their chin needs to be balanced out to augment their nose that I won’t do the nose because they won’t do the chin. I’m not that much of a control freak when it comes to my surgical patientsI want them to do the procedures that they’re comfortable with. But they need to know that very often, a nose and a chin are integrally interlinked. They are dependent on each other for facial balance. And sometimes a nose can look big just because the chin is weak and the chin and the nose should line up along a vertical line when you’re looking at somebody in profile. And if they’re not appropriately balanced, the facial aesthetics can suffer. And when they are brought into alignment, it can make a huge difference. It can change a person’s life, it can change a person’s appearance dramatically. It’s one of the most favorite operations for me because of the dramatic change. Now patients have to be told in advance that they will experience this dramatic change in their face. And when they look in the mirror, especially when the splint comes off for the first time and the bandages come off, they will literally see a different person looking back at them. It’s definitely going to be amore attractive person, but when you see a different person looking back at you in the mirror; it’s a little unsettling, especially for the first week or two. It takes that long until you get comfortable with seeing your new look. But the answer for Sue in Boca is that definitely the nose and chin are linked.
