Butt Augmentation and Fat Transfer

Jacky:  Do you do butt augmentations?

Dr. Salzhauer:  It’s becoming one of the most popular procedures down here in South Florida, at least as far as inquiries go. There are a bunch of ways to augment the derriere, so to speak. The older method is just to put an implant in, and implant of silicone. And there are a few surgeons down here who do it on a regular basis. But even in the best hands, there is a fairly high complication rate for putting in an implant. And I have taken out other surgeon’s implants that have been put in in South America, or even in Miami here, when they extrude or they have an infection or a complication. So it’s not an operation that I’d incorporate into my practice for that reason. I would say the complication rate for the operation is about 15 to 25 percent, which is too high for my comfort level. But there are some surgeons that do do it. Now when it works, it looks great. But when it goes wrong, or there’s an infection or an extrusion where the implant comes through the skin, it’s really a nightmare. And your behind will look much worse. So that’s why I don’t do the operation in that way. Now the newer way, and I think a safer way, is to take your own fat assuming you have some fat somewhere that we can take, and we inject it into the bottom part of the glutial area. And it gives it a nice, rounder, fuller appearance. Now to be quite honest, I think the implants look better over all, when they work properly. But the fat transfer can get a similar result with a much safer procedure. Now Thank God we’ve never had an infection, we’ve never had anybody complain about the fat injections. Now you have to be the right candidate for it. You have to have enough fat somewhere else in your body. If you’re really skinny, you weigh 105 pounds and you’re 5′4, , that’s not an option. The only option for you would be an implant.

I’m gonna have to disagree with Dr. Salzhauer on this one ;) I think the brazilian butt lift or fat transfer gives waaay better results! I had always wanted a little more “junk in the trunk” so I had originally looked into butt implants but I found the look to be a little “fake” so I went in for a free consultation with Dr. Salzhauer and didn’t think twice about getting a fat transfer done with him. I love the way my jeans and work pants fit!!! So in my opinion if you have a little extra fat you want to get rid of why not use it somewhere else ;)

I completely agree, why add to your body, just get rid of the fat you have and put it in a place where it will compliment your body!!!

My cousin had silicone injected to her “bottom” at a cheap clinic in Hollywood, her skin was discolorated and a year after she ended up in critical care due to an infection she had. She was left worst than she started. Dr. Salzhauer reconstructed her body and now she looks fantastic!
