Can a “woman of color” get a TCA (trichloroacetic acid) peel?
Dr. Salzhauer: We’ve got another email that I’d like to get to. It’s from Daisy in Miami. She says, and she writes "I am a woman of color. Can I have a TCA Peel?" Jeannine: Yes. I do the TCA peels at the office, and I also do many other peels. I can do a very good peel on a lady of color, but I have to be very careful and I cannot leave it on very long at all. It depends on the results she’s actually looking for. If she’s looking for a little bit of exfoliation, yes, I can do it. Anything deeper, I really would prefer if you did it. With the experience you have, of course, it’s a little better for that. But I can do an exfoliation, and I can also do a microderm abrasion. There are things we can do for darker pigmentation, absolutely. DR. Salzhauer: Absolutely. I agree with everything you just said. I mean, it can be done, it just needs to be tailored to a less strong percentage of TCA, which is I think a really great way to refresh the skin.
