Breast Augmentation, breastfeeding, and having children.
Jeannine Morrissette: Yes, we do have Cynthia from Pembroke Pines. Welcome to Nip Talk radio. What is the question that you have for Dr. Salzhauer today, Cynthia?
Cynthia: Hi, Dr. Salzhauer. I’m interested in breast augmentation but I’m about to get married and I do want kids in the near future but I was wondering if the implants are going to prevent me from breastfeeding or if it’s going to cause any complications?
Dr. Michael Salzhauer: That’s a good question, Cynthia. Most women who get breast augmentation eventually have children. Most women who have children with breast augmentation can breastfeed. So that’s not to say that all do and it’s not to say that all can but most do and most can. And I wouldn’t say that, just because you’re getting married or just because you want to have children and breastfeed that you can’t have breast augmentation. Again, it’s a very safe operation. It is one of the most common operations we do. More than a million women in the U.S. have breast augmentation. It’s a very gratifying operation, both for the patients and the surgeons. Again, you know, it deals with body image issues and, you know, that are deep rooted and, you know, women and men who come in for plastic surgery, it’s not an impulse buy. You know, it’s not something that you just wake up one morning and say, oh, I think I’ll go for a plastic surgery consultation today. It’s usually things have been bothering the person for, if not their whole lives, you know, at least for years. By the time they get the courage to call a plastic surgeon, make an appointment, keep the appointment and see me, they’ve really done a lot of thinking about it and really want this corrected.

You can still breastfeed when you have breast implants
